Parents to be fingerprinted by nursery schools - Telegraph

This fingerprint security system has long been in place in US childcare centres, having replaced the swipe/ID-card entry systems of the early 2000s. Is it just me or does this article seem to conflate the collection of parents' fingerprints with the collection of children's fingerprints (and potentially other biometric data)?
