A University of Southampton stusy shows that intensive, specialised education from age three appears to raise autistic children's IQ by up to a whopping 40 points. The programme of education, called Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) requires up to 40 hours a week of work with tutors whose interactions with the child focus on communication via imitation and reinforcement.
