Poorer children twice as likely to start school with behaviour problems - gap may have widened over last decade - Sutton Trust
Sutton Trust Research states -or restates - the obvious but Former Labout minister, Frank Field was arguing on the radio this morning that it was deficient culture not economic circumstance that was to blame. The solution then is moralisation not a reduction in levels of poverty. We have heard this before - over the last two hundred years! I have heard this statistic before, but is this really a good reason for kids who are poor to do worse in school? This means that teachers, faculty, and parents need to work harder with these students and get interested so they will WANT to learn. Teachers need to do more for these students and try to get the parents involved because what happens at home, definitely shows in the classroom. If teachers know this statistic coming into the school year and know which students these will be, they can better prepare for the students so they don't fall behind.
This is very easy to believe. I grew up very poor and so did most of my friends. However, i did have some well off friends who ended up in quite a bit of trouble now, whereas I am doing very well, so this statistic my typify what might happen, but it certainly won't hold back or help any determined people. This is a great read.
